From the Pastor/January 2010

“Quite the Christmas at Christ the King” (Thanks be to God!)

    • Wednesday Advent Evening Prayer averaged 25 in December and a new piano player was discovered and used beautifully.  The Advent New Member Dinner, 5th Sunday Breakfast, Erntedankfest (German Harvest) and Epiphany International Potluck meals were all memorable, well attended and served.

    • Christmas Attendance Quite Strong this year! (rounded numbers):  German, 50; Eve, 150; Day, 80; New Year’s Eve, 25.  A fully detailed quarterly and yearly church attendance report will be given to the Voters on January 24 with comparisons to 2008.

    • Thank you to the Sunday School and Preschool Staffs for the Christmas Eve Service and Christmas for Kids respectively, and to all the PARENTS for their cooperation and support!!  Almost 100% of our Sunday School was involved in these programs in December.

    • Thank you to the new member who hand-made the Christ the King Christmas Cards; to the members who donated poinsettias, and to the folks who decorated and un-decorated the church and fellowship hall for Advent and Christmas.

    • We hope to begin a Single Seniors Society fellowship and mutual care club this month at CTK to serve this growing demographic in our parish.

    • Ash Wednesday is early this year, February 17 Holy Communion.  It appears meals in the Fellowship Hall will precede all 6 Wednesday Evening Prayer Services this Lent.  We will be using the WELS Lenten Worship Series again this year for Mid-week worship.

In the Name of the Epiphany Light, Jesus Christ,
